After five years of restoration, the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris will soon reopen its doors to worshippers and visitors. The restored cathedral is visibly in better condition than it was five years ago, a fact commented on by the Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Bernard Marie Ulrich:
“I often used to tell people who would say to me, ‘Give us back the cathedral as we knew it,’ that I couldn’t. I couldn’t because it has taken on colors it didn’t have before. Don’t forget that people, humbly, did what God asked of them to manifest the Catholic faith. Therefore, we are not proud of what has been done here. We are simply grateful.”
